“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill can’t be hidden. Also, people do not light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand. Then it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine so others can see it. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16, NIRV)
Even as an adult, I am still afraid of the dark. Our light switch in our garage is behind the door so I always quickly run straight to it to lighten up the room. Its amazing to think how such a small little light can instantly light up a dark garage and give me peace. When we think of serving God, I think a lot of times we think about doing something big. Something that is going to change the world. But its often the little things that make the biggest impact.
God calls us sometimes to do BIG amazing things for his Kingdom but he also calls us to be that little light in a dark world. Doing simple small things to show the world the love of Christ often works a lot like the light in my garage. Not only does it light up an entire room but it also gives people peace. The kind of peace that only comes from a God that is never afraid of the dark. I encourage you today to think of a small simple act of kindness that you can do to be a light in someone’s day to day world.
Prayer: Dear Lord, guide us today to find someone to share the love of Christ. Help us remember that even small simple things can change the world and bring others to you. Thank you for being the eternal light. I ask this Jesus’ name, the Light of the World. Amen.
Having a great day,
