Our daily waters this week are inspired by the themes from the Maker Fun Factory Vacation Bible School.
“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations — that’s what I had in mind for you.” (Jeremiah 1:5, MSG)
God has a purpose for you. He really does! As we see in today’s verse, God had a purpose in mind for Jeremiah, even before he was shaped in his mother’s womb. For Jeremiah, that purpose was to be a prophet, which Jeremiah lived out even, and especially, when it was difficult.
God had a purpose in mind for you, established even before you were formed in your mother’s womb. That purpose is to be in a relationship with God, and point others to the Lord with your life so they, too, can know of God’s love. You might not be a prophet to the nations like Jeremiah, but you can definitely find ways to use your life — what makes you special, unique, amazing, wonderful, etc. — to bring glory to God.
You might wonder where to start. Prayer is always a great place. Reflect over your interests, your passions, and your burdens to see how they line up with the heart of God. How can you use those things that make you unique, connect with others who have similar things in common, and accomplish something for God? And remember, sometimes minor things can’t have major impact, for they often reveal the most beautiful facets of purpose.
God does have a purpose in mind for you. He wants to be in a relationship with you, and show you how to use those things that make you special to others how special they are, too.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for having a purpose in mind for me. Forgive me the times I neglect that purpose and live solely for myself. Help me to keep you in my mind, so I may look for ways to glorify you and reveal your purpose for my life. I pray this in the saving name of Jesus. Amen.
