“Your unfailing love will last forever.” (Psalm 89:2, NLT)
God will always love you, because God’s very nature is love. The bible tells us that we are able to love because God loved us first (1 John 4:8). This is very good news, isn’t it? But what about when you’re unlovable?
Let’s face it, we all have times when we make God shake his holy head. The things we say, or don’t say. The things we do, or don’t do. The places we go, or don’t go. All of it…sin…the thing that broke the relationship we were built for in the first place. Today’s verse tells us that God’s unfailing love lasts forever, much like 1 Corinthans 13 teaches that love never fails and always endures. God always loves you, even when you are unloveable.
We all sin, but here is some good news about God’s unfailing love: God’s grace is greater than your sin. Romans 5:20 tells us that when it’s our sin versus God’s grace, God’s grace wins hands down. Every. Single. Time. A love like this requires vulnerability, which can be scary, but it is God’s way. God will always love you, so do not fear. Open your heart and your life, and walk in the unfailing love of God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your unfailing love, especially when I feel as though I don’t deserve it. I praise you that your love is based on your character and not my behavior. May this transform my life so I may share your love with others, even though it causes me to be vulnerable. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
