“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6, NIV)
Do you have any unfinished projects around your house or job? Some unpacked boxes? A wall that needs patching and some paint? A report that needs to be finished? A team that needs to be built? Unfinished projects can hang over our heads, making us feel overwhelmed with all of life’s other demands.
You may feel like your life is a work in progress, and it is. Our spiritual growth is not linear…we all have our ups and downs where we celebrate on the mountain tops and consternation in the valleys. The good news is God is with you in all of it. God is working on your character to prepare you for eternity, and is at work in you even when you might not feel it.
Scripture promises that God completes what he begins, and is still with you even if you are worrying, wondering, and wandering. God began a good work in you and will be faithful to see it through to completion. Your life might feel like an unfinished project, but God is making progress. Trust him.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the work you are doing in me. Please forgive me for the times I get impatient when the renovation you are doing in me takes longer than I think it should. Help me to have faith in the work you are doing in me, because you are faithful to me. I praise you, and pray to you in the name of Jesus. Amen.
