“Take my side, God—I’m getting kicked around, stomped on every day. Not a day goes by but somebody beats me up; they make it their duty to beat me up. When I get really afraid I come to you in trust. I’m proud to praise God; fearless now, I trust in God. What can mere mortals do?” (Psalm 56:1-4, MSG)
It’s been a powerful week exploring the benefits of praising God in prayer. We know that God inhabits the praise of his people; God gives us his perspective; he breaks the mental loop so we can focus on things of heaven; and know that praise digs a deep well of faith, embracing the fact that God is with us no matter what. As we bring our journey to a conclusion today, I want to emphasize the fact that praising God can make you fearless with your trust in God, even when the enemy is after you.
God is on your side. With God on your side, who can be against you? There is nothing anyone or anything can do to separate you from God’s love in Jesus. This is definitely praiseworthy! All the forces of evil and wickedness in the world want you to think that God doesn’t have that power…don’t give in to that deception. Remember, God inhabits the praise of his people, and when you are in Christ, nothing can snatch you out of God’s hand.
May your praise give you the faith and trust to be fearless, so you can face the future unafraid. Praise God for his mighty acts in Jesus Christ. Give thanks and bring God on the scene. Get God’s perspective to help you in your struggles. Break the loop of negative thinking and focus on heavenly things. Know that God is with you no matter what. And trust in your praise to cause God’s enemy to turn tail and run!
Prayer: Dear God, I come to you in praise, seeking the knowledge and trust of your provision and protection. Whenever I am afraid because of the traps your enemy has set for me, help me to remember your promise as I walk boldly for you everywhere and in all things. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
