“Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” (Ephesians 6:7, NLT)

What gets your juices flowing? What excites you, stokes your passion, evokes enthusiasm in you? Enthusiasm is infectious. The more enthusiastic we are, the more it draws people’s attention.

The word, enthusiasm, in the original Greek is an inspiration in-and-of itself. Enthusiasm literally means, en theos, or in God (en means in, and theos means God). Scripture reveals that the closer we get to God, the more enthusiastic we grow. So when we read today’s verse, we see that we can find a distinct connection in our relationships with God and others.

Work in God, and the work you do with and for others will fill you with enthusiasm for the goodness of God. It will radiate to others, and people will be able to see what it means to love God with all you have and are, and your neighbor as yourself.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I want to be enthusiastic for you. Help me to draw close to you, so my enthusiasm can grow and my service to others will reveal your love, grace, and mercy. I pray this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
