“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” (2 Timothy 1:9-10, NIV)
We spent the better part of September looking at the vision statement for Church at the Well, and how it applies to our daily living. Jesus gives you a new life and the opportunity to begin (or begin again) in his love. God wants you to believe that your life matters to him, and the people he’s given you to do life with. When you do this, you know you belong to him and his family, kown as, the Church. Our vision is to be a place to facilitate this for every person, regardless of where you’ve been or where you are, because God wants to save you and transform your life for eternity. As we think about the vision of Church at the Well, we must also think about our purpose.
Purpose is a powerful concept that runs throughout Scripture. God is a God of purpose. He is not random, coincidental, or accidental. God created you, so you aren’t either. There is a purpose for your life, and your life in the church. And when you bring your individual purpose to God through the church, miraculous things can…and do!…happen.
The purpose of Church at The Well is to connect people to God and each other, changing lives to change the world. This points specifically to our mission statement, which is to make disciples for the transformation of the world beginning here at Church at The Well, in Cartersville, throughout Bartow County, and across the world.
Jesus’ purpose was to save us to show us we can begin, believe, and belong. This gives you your own purpose to share God’s love with others, connecting with God and each other to change lives and change the world. We are on a mission from God to help him change the world, so let’s do it.
Let’s begin! Believe you matter. Belong to the family of God. Connect people to God and each other to change the world. It can be done with God’s help! Now that’s his purpose to help us fulfill ours.
Let’s do this!
Prayer: Dear God, I celebrate Jesus’ purpose to save me so I can begin in you, believe my life matters, and belong to your family. Help me embrace my purpose so I may connect my own life and others to you for the sake of transforming the world. I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
