“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” (Psalm 13:8, NIV)
I love these cool mornings. Do you? We added an extra blanket to our bed and cracked the windows in our room. There is something so cozy about bundling up and feeling the enveloping warmth from head to toe, even in a crisp room. Sure, it makes it hard to get out of bed, but it provides a wonderful opportunity to steal a few extra moments from my crazy schedule and give them to the Lord, for God doesn’t want this to merely be a physical way to start your day, but a spiritual one as well. That is my favorite time to start my day in prayer, asking for God’s power, peace, and presence in my life even before my feet even hit the floor.
Our verse for today is a call and reminder to start the day enveloped in the knowledge of God’s unfailing love. It is a prayer for God to order your steps, so no matter where you go, you know you go with God. With God ordering your steps, you can trust him that no matter what happens, you don’t go through it alone.
God wants you to start your morning, each and every day, safe and secure in his unfailing love. God wants you to know he is enveloping your life from head to toe. Ask God to be with you, trust that he is, and praise him for whatever comes, because he is with you every step of the day. For as we read in Psalm 113:3, “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised” (KJV).
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to feel your unfailing love envelop me today. I trust you and know that wherever I go, you are with me. I praise you for this promise, praying in the name of Jesus. Amen.
