“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Romans 121: NIV)
This week we have explored steps along the path of holiness. Jesus is essential, and He wants to help. You must overcome the obstacles in your own life by setting your heart and mind on God and heaven. Living a virtuous life helps you push past your vices into a holy lifestyle. Life isn’t done alone, though, but in relationship, so forgiveness is a major component as we realize we are forgiven and called to forgive others.
Now that you are on the path to holiness, it is important to get back to the basics. Our Bible verse for today reminds us that our entire self must be given to God as an act of worship. This brings me back to the essence of our daily water series a couple weeks ago when we looked at committing to make 2018 different in how we pray, participate, give, serve, and speak about what God is doing in your life. This active approach to worship is true, proper, and pleasing to God! Think about that.
As you take the steps to holiness, make sure you are doing so with your whole life, and not just components of it. Find integrity in your relationship with God and others, so the Sunday morning you is in harmony with the rest-of-the-week you. It will make a difference…it will make you different.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I want to worship you with my whole life. I ask for your strength and stamina to help me pray, participate, give, serve, and testify for goodness. I want this to make me different, and shine your light wherever I go. I ask this in the name of Jesus, the Light of the World. Amen.
