The Tightrope and The Promise

by Vince Carr

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jerimiah 29:11)

I love this scripture, not only because it is in the Bible, but this scripture has been safety net for me when I felt that the world has knocked me off of the tightrope of life. One minute you are planning a trip to Disney, next minute we are treating 104 flu induced fevers. One week you are talking to your “brother from another”, and the next you’re driving the highway to pay your respects to his family at his funeral. The tightrope of life can be a tricky one, and sometimes we tend to focus on falling down, rather than remembering that God has given a way to climb back to the top… and keep it moving…

What’s your tightrope? What is that thing(s) that has been knocking you down? I want to encourage you to not only get up, but remember the promise, GOD HAS GOT YOU! So, maybe you started you day, week, year, month, or whatever focused on the fall, but today I want you to begin to focus on the Father. The same one that breathed air into your lungs, the same one that shaped the world in the palm of His hands, the same one that is with you today and has a plan for you tomorrow… Focus on the promise, focus on Jesus!

So here we go, dust yourself off and let’s walk in the promise.

Prayer: Dear God, when I fall or fail, remind me of Your promise. Amen…
