Called to a Purpose

today’s daily water is written by Alan Sanders

“We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

Have you ever struggled to find the purpose in your life when things are not going as you planned? Fear, worry, and heartache seep in and zap you of your strength and consume your thoughts. God doesn’t promise us that everything we experience will be good, but it will have a purpose. Paul is telling us in this verse that we should remember God’s love, HIS strength, and HIS wisdom.

So what do you do when you find yourself in this situation? Trust in God, our heavenly creator, to carry you through. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone, God has a plan for your life, how you execute it or respond to His plan is up to you. Be assured that your pain is only temporary, that it serves a purpose even though we may not understand or question God on why we are going through this.

Im often reminded of a verse from Psalm 91:4: “He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge.

I like the idea of finding refuge enveloped in God’s strong and mighty arms. Like a warm bed, the first sip of coffee, or a smile from a friend to let you know that everything is going to be fine. We seek comfort. In times like this, seek God. Don’t give in to the anger and sorrow but instead, make decisions with your faith in God and in His design.

Pray this prayer….Heavenly Father, Help me to see the purpose in my pain. Help me to relinquish the control I feel and allow God to take the reins and lead me on the path that he has designed for my life. Amen.
