“But he knows where I am and what I’ve done. He can cross-examine me all he wants, and I’ll pass the test with honors. I’ve followed him closely, my feet in his footprints…” (Job 23:10-11, MSG)
Life is filled with tests. You might hope that you’re done with testing after your school years, but you’re not…only the subjects change. God is always working within you to get you ready for your promotion to glory. When you’ve come to the end of one chapter, there is a test to see if you need more training or if you’re ready to move forward.
Reading our passage from Job today, we see a fail-proof way to take the tests of life. Follow the Lord. In Job’s case, he talked about how he followed God’s path so closely, he kept up with His footprints. This requires paying attention to the precise place you set your feet, but also a couple steps ahead to know where to go.
Is that how you approach life? Are you paying attention to God’s path? He wants you to follow with each step you make while keeping an eye for where to tread next. God sets the path and the pace…will you follow?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for setting my path and my pace. Forgive me when I get anxious as I sense that pace slow in the midst of a test to ensure I’m ready for where you’re leading me next. Help to know that I can following, but must do so carefully so I don’t miss a single step along the way. I ask this in the name of Jesus, who invite all to follow Him. Amen.
