“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2:6-7, NIV)
What do you think of when you hear the word, radical? Would you consider yourself a radical? Maybe you should. The word, radical, in Latin is, radicalis. The best translation for the word, radicalis, is, rooted. Think about that. A radical is rooted in Jesus…God’s way, truth, and life…for the sake of building a new life in Him. Pretty awesome, huh?
When was the last time someone accused you of being a radical? If you are seeking to live your life according to the ways of the Lord, the world will consider you radical, just as it considered Jesus radical. But imagine being rooted in Jesus and growing fruit of love, peace, and mercy…that would change the world in a radical way! So be rooted…be radical.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I want to be a radical, rooted in you. Help me to root my life in your love, and grow strong in your ways. I ask this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
