What Does Easter Mean to Me?

by Robin Chance

Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. (Lamentations 3:22, CSB)

When I think of Easter, I automatically think of Maundy Thursday.  Easter is all about God loving us so much that He gives us undeserved forgiveness. Jesus shows us a beautiful example of that love and mercy when He washes the disciples’ feet, even the one who was to betray Him. We see that mercy again, when hanging on the cross, He asks forgiveness for those crucifying Him. As humans, we want to strike back against those who harm us. Once we accept God’s forgiveness and mercy for our own, we are called to offer the same to all others.

Easter, to me, is a reminder of the undeserved mercy God shows me and a call to share that love and mercy with others.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for the gift of your love and mercy. May we share that gift with others, with our words and actions, so they, too, may accept if for themselves. We love you. Amen
