“The whole congregation of believers was united as one—one heart, one mind!” (Acts 4:32a, MSG)
Jacob Burson announced our upcoming “Summer United” emphasis in worship yesterday, which we will begin Memorial Day weekend, running through Labor Day weekend. The idea behind this emphasis is to unite our congregation, and bask in the uniting power of God’s love for us through Jesus Christ. We have big plans for this summer, and I hope you will avail yourself to the opportunities to connect with God and each other to experience the blessedness of a transformed life, so your life may be used by God to help transform the world!
There is incredible power in unity. Our verse for today shows just a glimpse of what happens when God’s people are united together in vision and purpose. In Acts 4:32, we see that the congregation of early believers was united in heart and mind. Their unity encouraged incredible hospitality, generosity, authenticity, and service. The result of their unity helped them to experience the amazing grace of God bestowed upon all of them.
I heard such wonderful comments about yesterday’s combined worship gathering and luncheon that followed. The energy of a packed house. Seeing old friends and making new ones. FOOD! This is precisely what Summer United will do for us on a weekly basis. We will gather for worship. We will have some meals together. We will serve together. We will enjoy the power of God’s grace through generosity and authenticity. The bonds of unity will bring us together in heart and mind. I’m excited about it, and hope you are, too!
We will continue in our two service format (9:30 & 11a) for the first three weeks in May. Then, on May 27, we will begin Summer United with combined worship at 10:15a. The very next Sunday, June 3rd, we’ll enjoy worship, then head over to Dellinger Park for a cookout and picnic! We have some other exciting things planned, so keep your eyes peeled for all the exciting details of Summer United!
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:, NIV)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for the experience of your amazing grace when I am in unity with your family in heart and mind. I pray for your Church at The Well, and seek to share the hospitality, generosity, authenticity, and service that makes your church so special! I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
