“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.” (Romans 12:1, MSG)
I think everyone wants their life to have meaning and purpose, but sometimes we struggle to find ways to make that happen. This week we are taking a look at how to make a deep impact in life. Each day I will share an idea, a suggestion, to help look beyond the ordinary stuff that can so easily trip us up and get to the heart of the matter.
The first suggestion I want to consider is fill the gaps in your day with meaning. Regardless of how many times we say we don’t have the time, we all have times when we’re idle. That is the perfect time to turn to something meaningful and make a difference. Go to the Bible app and read the verse of the day. Read a daily water (again). Listen to a podcast or online sermon, even of you have to pause it and take hours to finish listening. Pray. Send a text message to someone who is going through a difficulty. Call you mom and/or dad. Do something meaningful.
Our bible lesson for today gives such great advice about taking your everyday ordinary life and giving it to God. When you do this, the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and can make a massive difference for someone. Your idle time can be used as impact time…time to make a deep impact!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I want my life to make a deep impact for you. Help me to transform my idle time into impact time for you. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
