“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17, NIV)
Are you finding your week filled with more impact moments? I sure hope so! As we continue this weekly series, our next suggestion is to track with people who are making a difference.
I love this idea. It teaches that one of the best ways to learn how to live an impact life is to learn from others. As we’ve spent time this week looking at spending time with God, we can’t neglect the lessons we learn from others.
I am a firm believer in mentoring. I have a mentor and I am a mentor. Both kinds of relationships are critical for me as I seek to be the sharpest I can for God and others. You were never intended to do life alone, but with God and others. Spending time with others who are living impact lives is essential, because you can learn from them and they can learn from you. As today’s verse teaches, we get better when we do life with others.
Who are some people you can learn life from? Consider some difference makers, learn from them, and share with others, too. No one has all the answers, but the more we network with others, the easier ideas flow and the sharper we all become.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the people you’ve given me to do life with. Forgive me for the times when I think it’s all up to me. Help me to learn from others who are farther down the road from me, and help me as well to share with those who are coming up behind me. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
