“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.” (Isaiah 49:15-17, NIV)
Tattooing is an ancient art form that dates back at least 3000 thousands years. Once considered taboo by some, getting a tattoo is growing in popularity and has become more mainstream. People get tattoos for various reasons: artistic expression, spirituality, group affiliation, remembrance of a loved one, etc. I’m not advocating that people run out and get a tattoo. The fact is, memories fade, love dissipates, and tattoos are removed.
The good news is God never forgets. He has written our names on the palms of His hands! How awesome is that? We are always on His mind and in His sight. God’s love for humanity led Jesus to Calvary. After the resurrection, Jesus’ hands bore the nail imprints as a testament of His power over sin and death.
God has written our names on His hands. Jesus’ affirmed God’s love through His sacrifice on the cross that our names, by faith, are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to remind us that if everyone forgets or walks away, you will never will. Amen.
