“Tell them to do good, to be rich in the good things they do, to be generous, and to share with others.” (1 Timothy 6:18, CEB)
This week we are looking at Extravagant Generosity, and how ministry flows from the heart. Yesterday we explored the first part of our spiritual EKG, and how the test tracks the strength and timing of your heart beats. The first part focused on what comes in, and how God blesses us to enjoy life. Today we take that another step to look at how we are blessed so we can bless others. The outflow of the heart is critically important. We must learn how to channel God’s grace so others can experience the beauty of the blessing, too.
The Dead Sea in the Holy Land is a great example of what happens when a body of water receives but never pours out. It essentially becomes stagnant and unable to support life. The Sea of Galilee, on the other hand, has an outflow, and not just sustains life, but provides it. Your heart needs not just to get, but to give, too. Your experience of God’s blessings must be channeled into expressions. Your expressions can help others see that God is good.
How can you allow your life to represent the goodness of God by sharing with others? It won’t just bless others, it will bless you. And when God sees that you are blessed by blessing others, guess what? He, too, is blessed!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for blessing me so I can bless others. It amazes me to think that blessing others also blesses you, so help me to be a critical component of that grace channel. I ask this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
