“Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse.” (Romans 1:20, MSG)
I drove to Canton the other day for a meeting. On the way, it dawned on me the leaves changed. It was a beautiful drive.
Honestly, I was surprised. I had not noticed it previously. Yes, my schedule has been bananas. Yes, I also spent the last week quite sick. Yes, life is generally hectic. But these are just excuses. What was revealed to me is I haven’t slowed down enough lately to take in the majesty of God.
Can you relate? God’s nature is revealed through scripture and creation, but if you don’t make time to take it in, you can blow through it and miss the message.
If you’ve been scurrying about of late, I hope you will make some time to take in God. Marvel at the beauty of the changing leaves. Read His good book and marvel at the beauty of His constant glory. He is there, ready to be noticed.
Prayer: Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I rush through life without taking the necessary time to notice you. Help me to slow down so I can soak in your perpetual glory. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
