“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” (3 John 1:2, NLT)
Today’s verse is one I kept coming back to. I read it in several translations and meditated on it, because it speaks to the mind-body connection.
I want to be healthy. God wants you to be healthy, too. When you think about holistic health, Scripture make it clear there is a connection between your body and spirit. A lot of it has to do with what you feed yourself. A healthy diet, both physically and spiritually, is essential to longevity. So make sure you feed yourself well, in food for both the body and spirit.
You crave soul food. I guess you knew that, didn’t you. Don’t pass it up for the junk food that is nothing more than empty sustenance.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for giving me the nourishment I need, in both body and spirit. Forgive me for the times I choose junk food over soul, and help me to be as healthy in my body as I am strong I the spirit. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
