four pillars

But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth]. (JAMES 1:22 AMP)
This verse gets straight to the point. We are not called to give an obligatory hour on Sundays where we come to be entertained.
There are four pillars on which we should focus in order to be obedient to the Word of God…
  1. Worship: It’s who you are and the way you live that counts before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration. (John 4:23‭-‬24 MSG)
  2. Service: For we are God’s fellow workers [His servants working together]; you are God’s cultivated field [His garden, His vineyard], God’s building. (1 CORINTHIANS 3:9 AMP)
  3. Evangelism: And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. (MARK 16:15 AMP)
  4. Fellowship: They were continually and faithfully devoting themselves to the instruction of the apostles, and to fellowship, to eating meals together and to prayers. (ACTS 2:42 AMP)
  • You are called to a lot church family; a holistic way of living with, and living, God and neighbor. Get involved. Find a way to grow. There are so many opportunities to apply what you hear and read. It’s never too late to start, and since we’re in the new year, there’s no better time!
  • Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me right where I am. Thank you for desiring such a life that is saturated with the best life has to offer. I ask that you help me be a doer and not merely a hearer of your Word. When I backslide, help me to get back on course. It isn’t all about me and my needs. Help me each day to be a better version of who you created me to be. Amen.
