Love was in the air, YESTERDAY. Not just on Valentine’s Day, although if you walk into most retail stores you will see an assortment of discounted stuffed animals, flowers, cards, and candy. Love is so much more than the commercialized holiday.
It’s important to show your love and receive God’s love daily. We cannot love fully without first being filled with God’s love for us. His greatest gift: “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NLT) This type of love is a gift that isn’t earned.
Here’s the cool part though, “Everything God does is right— the trademark on all his works is love.”(Psalm 145:17 MSG). God loves us so much that His trademark is love. He wants our trademark to also be love, so that we point others to Him. He doesn’t want us to use flowery words, He wants us to live it. “If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.”(1 Corinthians 13:1 MSG)
Who wants to be a creaky gate that annoys people? Draw others to you. “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT). We want to be rewarded in heaven, and the greatest thing we can do is share love from the overflow of God’s love in your life.
Prayer: Thank you for showing me the importance of filling my tank with your love. Once my cup overflows, I can then love others. Thank you for loving me right where I am. In your precious Son’s name, amen.
