John 14:1-4 | “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
I had to travel back to Alabama twice last week and there is just something about crossing the state line and seeing the Alabama sign. My heart just gets lighter. I usually get to visit my parents’ house that always takes a huge load off of my shoulders. I get to soak in the peacefulness of being”home” and being surrounded by love and family.
I have lived in other states for more than half my life but never get that same feeling as being at mom and dad’s. With several funerals lately it has got me thinking that Heaven, the home God has waiting for us, is that feeling I am sure times 100 and I know that everyone isn’t as lucky to have that safe haven that I have on earth but everyone is promised that from God. We will have that eternal place that he has prepared for us that will take every bit of worry and weight from our shoulders and will give us the eternal peace of being “home” and loved.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Remind us of the home that you have prepared for us and the promise of love and peace it will bring. Let us live each day with the assurance that we are forever yours.
