Do it for God’s Glory

Today’s Daily Water is written by Doug Markle of Beloved Lord Ministries

Proverbs 22:29 | “Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.”

This is such an important verse.  I have seen a lot of people put a cross or fish on their business card showing people that they are Christians.  I have no issue with that in and of itself, but when you do that, you have to live to a certain standard in business otherwise you give Christians a bad reputation.  Too often, those companies will do business with good ethics, but lack the quality, punctuality or professionalism of other companies.

I believe that whatever we are doing, we should always strive to be the best at what we do. We should put in the work, time and effort to become very skilled in whatever our industry is.  We should obviously also operate under Christian principles and values simply because that is who we are.  People will beat our doors down because we are good at what we do.  This will give us the opportunity to share our faith because they will invariably see a difference in us.

It does not matter if you are highly educated or a high school dropout, in a high-tech industry or working at a fast food restaurant, these principles hold true.  Whatever you do, do it will you have and give God the glory when opportunity allows.

Praye: Father God, I ask for your hand on my professional life.  As I strive to be very skilled in what I do, I pray that you are glorified in my work as well as my life.  I thank you for opening doors and prospering my business.
