“…Much will be demanded from everyone who has been given much, and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked. (Luke 12:48, CEB)
For weeks my mind kept returning to the words of Uncle Ben from Spider-Man, “With great power comes great responsibility.” I kept praying for clarity about it because I don’t think of myself as having great power on a day to day basis. That’s when this verse popped up and I realized my error.
As Christians we are called to carry the message to the lost. It may be to someone near us or in a land far away. It may take on different forms such as packing backpack buddy bags, or measuring rice for missions. It may just be having a chat and coffee with someone and sharing Christ with them. It might just be having a faith as small as a mustard seed that moves mountains so others can see the cross at Calvary clearly. That seems like great responsibility to me. Through the smallest seed of faith to the gathering of food, we have the power within us as we choose to align with God’s purpose to change the world.
Prayer: Lord teach us to choose to follow Jesus in every step we take. Help us to recognize the power of love within us as we share the Good News along the way. For it is in your holy name we pray, Amen
