The End of the Saga?

By Pastor Mark Jordan

God raised us from death to life with Christ Jesus, and he has given us a place beside Christ in heaven. God did this so that in the future world he could show how truly good and kind he is to us because of what Christ Jesus has done.” (Ephesians 2:6-7, CEV)

I gave an update on our neighborhood’s mother goose yesterday. The story continues, and I cannot wait to give you the update!

You might recall we had such a rainy end of last week. I heard from a friend we received nearly 5″ of rain, which flooded our pond. Tiffany and I were so concerned for our goose family. We drove down by the pond and saw mama and daddy goose circling above the nest, staying diligently close to their eggs.

We were worried that the eggs would be washed away from the nest. We were also worried that the time they spent submerged underwater would lower their temperature and prevent hatching. We watched and waited with baited breath.

Early Easter Sunday morning, on my way to church, I drove past the pond and noticed the water receded, but no sign of the geese. A little later in the morning, Tiffany saw something that brought much joy to this unfolding saga: mama goose, followed by her glorious gaggle of goslings!

The significance was not lost on me. It was early on the first day of the week. It was Easter Sunday. Where we feared death, we saw life — it was glorious! And this is exactly what God wants to do for you and me.

When you feel like you are lost, God knows right where you are. When you feel like you are drowning in life, God is there. He wants to rescue you and have you follow Him so He can show you how to truly live.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for staying with me through thick and thin. I accept your loving presence, and seek your help to live for you forever. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
