Do You?

by Pastor Mark Jordan

“Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders. Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes his lightning flash? Do you know how the clouds hang poised, those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge?” (Job 37:14-16, NIV)
Wow! What God spoke to Job all those years ago, I’m certain He wants to speak to you today. Read it again, will you?
“Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders.
Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes his lightning flash?
Do you know how the clouds hang poised,
those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge?”
(Job 37:14-16, NIV)
When was the last time you stopped and considered God’s wonders? It seems to me we rush through life, and run the risk of minimizing the magnificence of God. Maybe we do even worse. Maybe we aim to nullify God’s wonders by thinking or living as though they depend and us. Can you relate? Does that hit a sore spot? It certainly does for me.
So, I must ask, do you know that God is the who controls everything? From the unpredictability of nature to the frenzy of life? Do you? If you do, I want to encourage you to slow down a little. Trust God a little more. Live for God all the time. When you stop and consider the wonders of God, you might just be inclined to realize you are one of them. Do you know that?
Do you?
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the reminders that you are in control of the world and all that is in it. Forgive me for the times I don’t make room for you in my world. Help me today and everyday to slow down a little, trust you a little more, and live for you in all ways and things. I ask this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
