Search Me

by Terri Cox

Psalm 139
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

Knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior is the greatest blessing a person can experience.  Walking each moment in union with Him gives your life its very meaning.  Once you give Him your heart, you begin your relationship with Him and you have the opportunity to grow in knowledge of Him and begin fulfilling your intended purpose.  So how can you know Him better?  How can you make sure that you are continuing to make the most of the life you have been given?

Whether you have known Christ for a day or for many decades, praying this prayer (Psalm 139:23 & 24) each morning will ensure that the day ahead will bring you deeper into the heart of God.  If you ask God to search you and know you on a daily basis, you won’t be able to hide the things that can keep you from being close to Him.  If you ask Him to see if there is anything in you that grieves Him, the Holy Spirit will reveal it to you.  He will lead you back to Him.  If you fail to check in with Him daily, the sin that sneaks in can begin to build.  Before you know it, there is a pile of “dirty dishes” in the sink of your soul that is beginning to attract flies.

Just remember to breathe this prayer—Search me, O God, and know my heart—every day.  God will be there to shine His light on the good, the bad, and the ugly.  He will help you back into a victorious walk with Him.
