Oh, what a wonderful God we have! How great are his wisdom and knowledge and riches! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his methods! (Romans 11:33, NLT)
I needed this verse today. How does it strike you? Do you need a reminder that God IS wonderful, especially when things don’t look like it right around you?
I think about the common children’s blessing that begins, “God is great, God is good….” I prayed that as a child, and we use it occasionally with Mia (she prefers to sing the “Thank You, Father” blessing). It is an important thing to remember that God is great, and we need those reminders daily, if not multiple times a day. Still, even with those reminders, if we just say it by rote, are we really claiming it for living?
And that’s how I want to leave you to kick off your day. Will you contemplate the greatness of God? I mean really contemplate. Think about it, and think about it some more. Talk about it others who also believe, but look for ways to testify to someone who either might not believe, or used to believe and allowed the world to invoke cynicism over praise. True, it is impossible to fully understand God’s decisions and methods, but don’t let that keep you from seeking.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I praise you for your greatness. It is impossible to fully understand your ways, but contemplating it fills me with wonder for you. Help me to consider you in all ways and things so I may share it with others. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
