“Glory to God who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20, NIV)
The other night my granddaughter came to me and asked me to read the Bible to her because she was having a hard time falling asleep.
Earlier that day, she showed me this Bible verse and the motions she learned in VBS with it. I remember her saying this was such an important verse to her. This is where we started reading. After two chapters of Ephesians, she was sound asleep. Her face was priceless and calmly peaceful as she went off into the land of dreams.
It touched my heart. I realized in my soul that she understood this verse better than most adults. How amazing it was to watch her little face transform as she heard the Bible. Her mind slowed down and her face softened as drifted off. It was as though learning this verse about God doing far more than we could ever ask or imagine, by his power within us, she knew she had it inside of her.
Thanks be to God for showing us light through our children. May we catch a bit of their faith and hope along our path. May we remember to claim his power within us just as this child did.
Prayer: Lord thank you for our precious children in the church. May their light shine brightly as they learn about Jesus. Help us to treasure your power within us as we walk with you. In Jesus name, amen.
