What indicates love to you? Is it a conversation heart, flower, or some other gesture? I think it is safe to say we all appreciate receiving loving experiences, but it can’t simply be experience without expression
Jesus taught in John 15:13 that “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (NIV). I also love how this is put in The Message Version, “This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends.” Both point to a significant truth: love is less what you get and more what you give.
How can your experiences of love turn into expressions for others today? How can you put your life on the line so someone else can know the power of love? Jesus gave His life so you can know what it means to live, so live in love for someone today.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for loving me forgive me for the times I make love simply about my own experiences without turning it into an expression. I know Jesus laid His life down for me, so help me put my life on the line for others, too. Amen.
