God’s Strong Hand

by Pastor Mark Jordan

“Don’t fear, because I am with you; don’t be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will surely help you; I will told you with my righteous strong hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, CEB)

When was the last time you felt really worried, scared, or dismayed? It’s quite unsettling, isn’t it? I remember taking Mia to Children’s Healthcare a couple weeks ago, and how nervous she was. I carried her into the doctor’s office where we had the appointment, and she clutched me so tightly. When it came time for me to sign some papers, I let her down to the floor and held her hand with my right hand since I’m a lefty. The dear little one squeezed my hand and refused to let go. She didn’t worry about squeezing too hard and hurting me…she trusted me to be there and able to take it. She needed me to. My strength in taking her strength gave her the confidence to know that no matter what scary thing came her way, I was stronger.

That really inspired me. It reminded me that God is with me in the times I am full or worry, fear, and doubt. My heavenly Father is holding me, and in those times I need to hold on with all my strength, He can take it. And not only can He take it, He wants it. His hand is strong, and He longs to share that strength with you.

Are you facing anything today that scares you? Go to God. Let His strength become your strength. He longs to help you.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for loving me with your eternal strength. In those times I feel fear, help my to know I can cling to you with all my strength, and you not only can it, you want it. I praise you as I pray in the strong name of Jesus. Amen.
