On psalm 91

By Mary Stout

Whoever dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”(Psalm 91:1-2)

Weeks ago I began a secret project to memorize Psalm 91 and store it in my heart. My original plan to surprise my spiritual mentor by reciting to him one day fell through when  I felt God give me a nudge to reveal my project. He loved it and said it provided a spiritual salve for his heart. Truly God was speaking to him helping him be strong and know His healing touch.

It’s funny when I think about it. I just wanted to show how much my life had changed through memorizing God’s word. I didn’t think much of it. I thought well he gives to me so I can bless him. Honestly, It blessed me though. It taught me to believe in myself a little more. It made me stronger. Sharing brought me an unexpected measure of peace.

Don’t be afraid to share the things you have inside you with the people God has placed in your life. Being hesitant is for the birds. Act on those things that God has placed in you.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for the things you place in me to share with others. I pray I may boldly share with them the Good News and the wisdom you have given me. May I always remember to thank you for all these blessings. In His name, I pray Amen.
