Even If

By Mary Stout

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.         II Corinthians 12:9-10

One of my favorite songs is Mercy Me’s “Even if”. It gets my attention every time I hear it.  No matter what I feel or think or what the circumstances appear like in human eyes I have a God on whom I can depend when I am broken. No matter what type of brokenness I have, this verse shows us that He is strong in spite of  my weaknesses..

When we talked about sanctifying grace a while back, we learned that we are learning to walk like Jesus as we walk towards eternity.  When we trusted the Lord and surrendered our lives to him we learn to walk in his love, grace and mercy even on the hard days. It gives me comfort when I feel weak.

The power of Christ in you can transform your life. Accept those things that come along. Even if you hurt, you have to go through the pain. You have to walk that road as difficult as it is. In Psalm 23 He said He would walk through the valley of the shadow of death with us and comfort us.  He knows the pain. He freed us from the pain.   Even if you don’t feel Him, Even if you can’t hear him, Even if you can’t see the sun yet, trust in Him. With all your heart and all your mind and all your soul. That is faith. That is Jesus working in you. That is Love.

Prayer: Heavenly Father we come to you with our broken hearts, our mixed-up thoughts, and our wounded souls. We lay them at the foot of the cross and ask you for healing. Help us hope in you alone, even if. In Jesus name, Amen
