Where is your Focus?

By Melissa Norris
Ephesians 4:32

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

I was visiting a friend in Hospice last week and we were catching up on how our week had gone. I mentioned that I was mad at my husband for something. She stopped me and said, “What is something that he did last week that was sweet?” I thought and mentioned that he had helped me when my back was hurting and he had also brought me socks when my feet were cold.

She proceeded to ask how we met and things that I loved about him. Before long, my mood turned happy and thankful. She reminded me to focus on the good things instead of the bad. It is a choice what we decide to think about and focus on. I can get in a “yucky” mood too quickly due to other people or stress at work. Choose to stay focused on God and the good things about people instead of the bad.

Prayer: Dear Lord, you put good all around us. Open our hearts and eyes that we can focus on the good and not the bad. Help us to stay centered in your love and exude your goodness. In Jesus name, Amen
