Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
We all know this verse but my brain has a hard time remembering it when life gets crazy. It seems like every member of my family recently has been struggling with anxiety. Life is so full of ups and downs and chaos. I know that I shouldn’t be admitting this in this devotion but I looked over and realized that my wonderful bible has been sitting untouched for months. No wonder I am stressed and feel like I can’t handle everything.
I am not leaning on all the promises that God gives me. His promise to carry my burdens and give me peace is there for the taking. I just have to receive it and truly turn it over to Him. He never intended for us to live stressed out and worried all the time. He made us for great things which will be hard to accomplish if we are all caught up in the world and it’s craziness.
Dear Lord,
Move in our hearts to reach out to you and lay our worries at your feet (and not pick them up again). Remind us of your ever present love and comfort. May we embrace all of your promises and live the life you have planned for us.
