The Unshakable Kingdom

by Pastor Mark Jordan

“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe….” (Hebrews 12:28, ESV)

I felt unshakable until I was shaken. Then, when I was shaken, I realized I could be shattered. Can you relate? Those times when the worst case scenario plays out in your life? Those times when you prepare for the worst and hope for the best, but it leaves you realizing the worst is worse than you could ever have conceived? Yeah. When we get shaken to the core and beyond, we need a foundation that cannot be shaken. We need Jesus.

When Jesus came, He brought you access to the unshakable kingdom…the heart of God. His life, death, and resurrection is the admission fee, which He paid just for you to enjoy all the benefits. Yes, there are times when it can feel so far away, but let me assure you that is is as near as your very next breath; for as Jesus said, “the kingdom of God is in the midst of you” (Luke 17:21, ESV).

Yes, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you, whether you feel it or not. Isn’t that great news?! With that being the case, give thanks to God for what He did — and does — for you in Jesus Christ. Worship Him. Make Jesus the center of your life, lived in reverence and awe. Let the unshakable kingdom of God stabilize you when you feel shaken or shattered.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for being unshakable when I am far from it. I know there are times when I am shaken and shattered that don’t feel unshakable, but that doesn’t change your sovereignty. Thank you for Jesus, and bringing the unshakable kingdom into my life. I thank you with gratitude in Jesus’ name. Amen.
