Today is a day like few others in the year. It is filled with great expectations, excitement, and joy; for in a matter of hours, it will be Christmas Day. I hope you are making plans to join us this evening for Christmas Eve worship. If you are not local to Cartersville, find a place to worship.
Today’s verse from Isaiah 9 points to a prophecy of Jesus’ birth…
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.”
(Isaiah 9:2, NIV)
The Prophet mentioned that people were walking in darkness, but the light dawned. I love how this is written in the past tense, because it emphasizes that God’s light shone in the beginning, and still shines. From Genesis 1 to John 1, we read that God’s light was perpetual in creation, and acceptance of His love causes that eternal glow to dawn in your life.
If you are walking in darkness, allow the light of God in Jesus to dawn for you today. Make this a Christmas truly like none others, and make room for Jesus. If you’ve been a follower for a while, take this opportunity to allow the illuminating love of God to radiate from to you others. For the light has dawned, and noting can extinguish it.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the light that shines for me, always and everywhere. May it glow in my life and radiate from me in all ways and things. I pray this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
