I sure hope you’re finding this week-long series helpful on why baptism is important; after all, Jesus was baptized and commanded us to participate in it, too, as we confess our sin and profess our faith in a forgiving God. Today, I want to offering a simple, yet beautiful vision of what happens when we turn our lives to God. In Luke 15:10, we read these inspiring words, “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (NIV).
Did you pick up on that? When a sinner repents and turns to God, a party is thrown in paradise! Who doesn’t love a good party!? And can you imagine the celebrations Jesus throws when people follow His example and instructions? Wow…just wow!
Baptism provides us a public venue to confess our need of God, profess our faith in God, and allow for the Body of God (i.e., the Church) to celebrate our decision. If you would like to explore baptism more deeply, I would love to talk with you. My email is, mark@trinityatthewell.com, and I’d love to hear from you, and celebrate with you!
Prayer: Dear Lord, when I think of my life, there are quite a few things I don’t feel are worthy of celebrating. To think that you throw heavenly parties when a sinner repents gives me hope that my messes shows you at your best. For that, I celebrate in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
