“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)
Today’s verse is perhaps one of the best known in all Scripture. Often referred to as the Gospel in a nutshell, it points to God giving humanity the gift of Jesus for our salvation. And note how it says God so loved the world…this includes everyone…even you, if and when you feel unloved or unlovable.
I hope this is good news for you, regardless of how you find Valentine’s Day. If you feel anxious wondering if you’ll be remembered, know that you are. If you will spend the day reminded you are loved, give thanks for that. Regardless, may today be one of assurance that you indeed are loved, and God gave the very first Valentine in Jesus, like a conversation heart saying, “Be Mine,” for now and forever.
Prayer: Dear Lord thank you for loving me. May this Valentine’s Day grant me the assurance that I am indeed loved, now and forever. Even though roses will wilt, and chocolates can spoil, I know your love never fades. I thank you in the name of Jesus. Amen.
