“Whoever goes hunting for what is right and kind finds life itself—glorious life!” (Proverbs 21:21, MSG)
Today’s verse hit me anew. I think I’m going to put it on a card and stick it to my bathroom mirror. I want to see it as I start the day to put me in the proper frame of mind as I begin each and every day. I think it’s good advice for all of us — spend each day hunting for what is right and kind in the world and find a glorious life.
One of the truisms of life is you tend to find what you seek. If you look for trouble, you will find it. If you look for joy, you can find that, too. I think the use of the word, hunting, is critical. It implies intention and commitment. As any hunter can tell you, you must know the season, what you are hunting, where you go, and the tools you need to to be successful.
Let’s face it, life can be messy. Your attitude can make a world of difference. If you want a glorious life (and who doesn’t?), follow the Bible’s advice and seek to do what is right, and be kind to everyone. Your attitude, commitment to the task, and the bait of kindness, you will be successful!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I want a glorious life. Forgive me the many times I look at a messy situation and get discouraged, thinking that’s all there is. Help me to hunt for what is right, and to be kind to everyone. I ask this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
