Strangely Dim

by Mary Stout

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalms 23:4 NIV

As I sit here on the first Sunday we are “social distancing” to help keep the coronavirus at bay,  I remember how important our faith is as someone posted these words on FB.

“And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”

If you are a bit apprehensive about it, it’s okay. I think everyone is. The Word says He is with us even in this valley. I am standing on that promise, aren’t you?

Don’t let the fear of the world get into your spirit. Turn your eyes upon Jesus instead. I am finding we are one in the spirit today as we post our thoughts, our prayers and our love to one another! God will use this time to help us reflect on Him and show us His steadfast care, even if we don’t like what is going on in the world.

1Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” Psalms 91:1-2
Use this time to join in prayer for our world, one another, and lean into His arms of protection as the days unfold. Keep on encouraging one another to stay strong in the Lord and show others how our faith in  God helps keeps us steady and give them a bit of Jesus along the way.
Prayer: Lord, hear our prayer for those who are sick, for those on the front lines working diligently to heal the sick. Lord hear our prayer for those who are anxious and scared. Help us show them your light and love in the coming days. In Jesus’ name Amen.
