‘But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.’ When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. Isaiah 43:1-2
With the recent distant learning happening as the schools are closed, the teachers have wisely taken to the internet and given the kids shout outs for completing work. This was cool when my granddaughter got a shout out. She loved being recognized. It made her feel special when her teacher gave her kudos. All of us are happy when our name in mentioned, aren’t we?
Today’s verse gives us the assurance of God knowing who we are. He knows each of us by name. When we accepted Christ as our Savior, He wrote our name in the Book of Life. In Isaiah, the Lord says he knows your name and you are His. It’s comforting and calming to know He has us on His mind. He gives us peace during the struggles we experience and guides us through them.
As difficult as our circumstances are, we can lean into His promise. God with us— Emmanuel. Experiencing aloneness or feeling fear is normal, For the Christian, leaning into Him is the answer.
Prayer: Thank you for giving us the hope of glory each day. May we lean into the facts and know that you are with us always. In Jesus name, Amen
