When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
Psalms 94:19 NIV
It’s funny how a simple art lesson can teach you. I have never really had the patience for art. I really marvel at those those whose talent is such a joy to look at. An artist friend showed me how to visualize and focus on just one thing. I listened and began drawing a picture of a sharpie marker. Her advice helped me really understand the reason behind visualizing and focusing on one thing at a time. I was happy with my drawing.
It’s like that with faith too. While there are many aspects of our faith life one can choose to do, the main thing to remember is to look to Jesus. He is the author of our faith and it is because of him we can help the poor, feed the hungry, heal the sick, or walk along someone when they are grieving. Our faith in Christ’s resurrection makes our life possible.
A friend of mine says you know when you keep the main thing the main thing life gets better. Focus on the cross. Focus on Jesus. Focus on loving others to the heart of Christ. It will bring you joy.
Prayer: Father God, we praise you for reminding us to focus on the work that Jesus did when he was here. Help us to choose that focus daily. Thank you for loving us and showing us when we focus on Jesus, the rest of life gets better. In Jesus’ name, Amen
