The Daily Choice

By Mary Stout

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
John 15:4 NLT

When you think about your faith life it’s really easy to allow things to get in the way of spiritual growth. So many things can derail us and that focus is hard to get back without a lot of effort.

What can we do in our daily walk to decrease the distractions and increase our focus? Many read the Bible daily, write a journal, and read devotions .

A while back I learned a acronym for busy is “being under Satan’s yoke”. Now as Jesus followers we are not. But there are times in life when we act like it. We allow what’s in the world to stress us out and don’t utilize our God given sense!

I’m not sure if it’s a sin or not. I’m leaning toward thinking it is if I feel convicted for not allowing the grace of God to carry me through the day. I think that is between you and God.

It’s a choice each of us have to make. The daily walk will have suffering. It might get busy from time to time. Utilize the tools and resources around you including those you do life with to help you stay on the path. Make a choice to walk in faith daily. Remain in Him and He will be there right beside you. Just remember busy is not always kingdom work. Sometimes it’s Satan luring you into complacency in your walk. When you choose the Lord’s work, it’s productive and fruitful.

Prayer: Father God keep us close to you as we walk. Help us stand firm and remind us to look to you for guidance and direction throughout the day. Protect us from the busy in life. As we trust our days to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
