Lord of All

by Mary Stout

‘Peter fairly exploded with his good news: “It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open. Acts 10:34-35 MSG

Do you remember Walter Cronkite? Walter was the most trusted man in America and his news broadcast was the one we turned to back in the day for thirty minutes every evening. it was all we needed to know in those days. There was a sense of comfort we got when at the end of his broadcast he would say, “And that’s the way it is” with the date.

Fast forward to today when we have non-stop 24/7 media. We have so many choices news wise now, it’s hard to tell who to believe or what to trust. I get tired of hearing how racist, ugly, bad, and mean I am. I tire of hearing how horrible the pandemic is and who is responsible for it. Do you feel the same way? Often I have to turn off the news because it can be mentally exhausting.

I bring you good news. God does not think of you or anyone else in that way. He loves us all . It doesn’t matter what race we are, how much we make, what abilities we have, or where we are from. The Good News is a message for all. If we are open and ready, God accepts us all. His grace, mercy, and love cover everyone. It is our duty to carry this message to others. He sent Jesus to die for everyone of us.

To heck with what the media says. As long as you and doing what God wants of you, the world and what it thinks doesn’t matter. We don’t have to believe what others say about us. God is El Shaddai, the God who is sufficient for the needs of all his people.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for giving us the ability to discern what is good for us. When the world wants to tell us who we are, remind us that is in you we live and breathe and have our being. May we look to You as our Abba Father, our shepherd and our provider. In Jesus’ name Amen.
