“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.
John 14:1 NLT
I love talk radio. I’ve been known to listen to all sorts of things, politics, food, sports, gardening, and even fishing. There was one radio guy whose tag line was the first part of this verse. Let not your heart be troubled.
When I feel out of sorts, worried, or exhausted, I feel like that old song, nobody likes me, everybody hates me, guess I’ll go eat worms. If I am not careful, I’ll start spiraling down into the pit of despair. I was feeling that way and I prayed for a little grace to get through. Imagine my surprise when a friend of mine posted on Facebook she had felt her heart was heavy lately. Immediately she had the thought let not your heart be troubled.
God showed up and showed me I was not alone. He was listening to me and his answer was let not your heart be troubled. Trust in me. The sadness lifted and I felt better.
No matter what you’re going through, there are others who feel the same way you do. There are others whose faith feels fragile. There are others whose lives get distracted. There are others who feel like no one cares and they feel like eating worms. May your heart be eased of suffering through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. They need to hear this verse:
Let not your heart be troubled, trust in God and trust in me. John 14:1
Prayer: Living and loving Father, we thank you for your loving grace that shows up just when we need it. Help us share your good news when we encounter folks who don’t know you. In Jesus name Amen
