Kindness

“Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

Do you notice the everyday kindness others do for you? Recently, I came to witness such kindness in my life. My granddaughter asked me if I worked the next day and I said yes. As a surprise for me, she set up my desk with fresh paper, pens, made sure my computer was plugged in and ready to go. I thanked her for her kindness and she smiled. She has done this several times now. She was showing me her love through her actions.

It made me think about how we take for granted much of the time the small things people do for us. God says we are to notice these tiny miracles and enjoy them. He also says be thankful for the kindness and encouragement others give to us.

16Always be joyful. 17Never stop praying. 18Be thankful in all circumstances, for this, is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.  I Thess 5:16-17

Notice the people around you who do small things for you and others. God wants us to show one another mercy, grace, kindness and love. Pay attention to your own acts of kindness as well. He gives us a promise to help us keep focused on the true and right thing to do. He gives us more than we can ever imagine when we keep our life on the path of righteousness.

“He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.”  Proverbs 21:21

Prayer: Living and loving Father May my actions be one with you that I might impart your loving-kindness to others you have given me to do life with. Help me each day to be the person you want me to be. In Jesus’ name Amen
